Two Free Events Across the Northern Corridor
On 26 January 2026, both the City of Salisbury and the City of Playford are holding Australia Day celebrations that are open to the public at no cost. If you are in the northern Adelaide area, here is what each event includes.
City of Playford: Fremont Park
The Playford celebration is held at Fremont Park and is described by the council as one of the largest Australia Day breakfasts in the city.
The program includes live stage entertainment hosted by Andrew "Cosi" Costello, an official flag-raising ceremony with the Mayor, and the announcement of the Playford Citizen of the Year Award. Family activities include carnival rides, face painting, and a range of children's attractions.
Times for the Playford event were to be confirmed closer to the date. Check the City of Playford's website or social media channels for the final schedule.
City of Salisbury: Carisbrooke Park
The Salisbury event runs from 8:00am to 2:00pm at Carisbrooke Park.
The program includes live entertainment with a DJ and a performance by the Salisbury City Band, an official flag-raising ceremony, the Salisbury Citizen of the Year Awards, an Australian Citizenship Ceremony welcoming new citizens, a free breakfast for attendees, and kids' games.
The citizenship ceremony is a meaningful part of the Salisbury event. New Australians take the pledge in a public setting surrounded by the community, which gives the morning a purpose beyond the general celebrations.
Why These Events Matter for the Area
Both events are council-run and focused on the community rather than commercial entertainment. The citizenship ceremony at Salisbury, in particular, is a reminder of how much population growth this corridor has seen and continues to see. Northern Adelaide has been absorbing new residents at a consistent rate, and events like these are part of how established and new residents build familiarity with each other.
For families, both locations are accessible by car and have open spaces that work well for younger children. Neither event has announced fireworks.
