Common buyer concerns, honest answers.
Am I paying the right price?
The right price is what someone is prepared to pay. Value varies based on individual needs and preferences.
What about structural issues?
The problems you can't see can be the most expensive. Older homes need careful inspection.
Termites and white ants
Not all white ants damage your home. Some only break down garden wood.
Roof and waterproofing
Check the roof line carefully. Cement tile coatings degrade over time.
Get a professional building inspection
I always advise getting a building inspection. Ask about the inspector's building industry experience.
Note: Building inspectors in South Australia are not required to be licensed - it's an unregulated industry.
Why these suburbs? Let me set the record straight.
Common misconceptions
"All homes are on steep hills"
While these suburbs run along the Adelaide Foothills, there are vast areas with flat, large blocks or only very slight slopes.
"High crime rates"
The majority of streets are dead-end, meaning very little traffic. Criminals don't like that – there aren't multiple escape routes.
"Too far from Adelaide CBD"
20-45 minutes to CBD depending on traffic. In peak hour: 30 minutes to outer CBD roads, then 15 minutes for the last few kilometres.
The reality
Stunning views and peaceful living
Views all over the Adelaide Plains to the sea. Hilly areas offer spectacular vistas while flat areas provide easy living.
Excellent transport connections
10 minutes to train station, 15-20 minutes into town by train. Perfect for commuters avoiding peak hour traffic.
Lifestyle and amenities
I've lived here since 1989
In all my years living in this area, I've only once had someone trying to break into my car. The dead-end streets and community feel make this a safe, family-friendly environment.
